It has been awhile since I've posted.
A long nightmare is interrupted. Control of the US has returned to the more pragmatic arm of big business, the Democrats.
Rumsfeld has fled and, as the UK Telegraph has so eloquently put it, Bush's hell has just begun.
The "War on Terror" will never end, which is, to some, a Good Thing.
As Dwight Eisenhower warned, war is money... and we have certainly entered the golden age he warned about.
An very well done Dutch (?) television segment discusses a number of 9/11 theories and interviews journalists and editors from mainstream and new media.
With a down payment of $124 million, Larry Silverstein entered a 99 year lease of the World Trade Center buildings only 2 months before the 9/11 attacks. Although thousands of people lost their lives in the attacks, Larry may do well in the end as he is fighting for over $7 billion in insurance claims.
US President Bush today acknowledged the existance of a network of secret overseas prisons and urged congress to pass laws that will make sham trials legal. The Supreme Court previously ruled that military tribunals are not legal.
The tribunals promoted by Bush will pay no heed to the right to a fair trial, allowing the use of "hearsay and coerced testimony and for secret evidence". These tribunals will, in effect, allow the US to arbitrarily sentence foreign nationals to death with no real evidence.
Madeleine Duncan Brown, former mistress of US President Lyndon Johnson, has revealed on a video interview that she believes Johnson ordered the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
The Northern Border Air Wing, a division of the Department of Homeland Security, is setting up a new base in Montana, near the US/Canadian border.
A number of planes and two Black Hawk helicopters will be deployed there for border patrols. 730 kilometers will be patrolled for drug smugglers, illegal aliens, and terrorists. According to US Customs and Border Protection spokesman Mike Milne, "they will fly missions along the border, to prevent terrorist and terror weapons from coming into the U.S."
Even though Canadian courts have ordered the government to stop, the federal government claims it will continue to deny a passport to Abdurahman Khadr, a Canadian citizen who is the son of a suspected al-Qaida financier.
The court declared that Khadr, who has never been charged of any crime, deserves "fairness and legitimate expectation owed to all Canadian citizens".
In an apparent effort to obfuscate history, federal agencies in the US have secretly reclassified over 55,000 pages of previously declassified or unclassified records.

A YouTube video shows footage of Florida riot police opening fire, with rubber bullets, on protesters. One protester is shot in the face (had she been hit in the eye, she would have likely been blinded). Afterwards, while debriefing, riot police laugh openly about shooting her.
